SUMMARY:Dharma Brothers: A Conversation on Monastery Life with Geshe Thubten Sherab and Geshe Palden
DESCRIPTION:Geshe Thubten Sherab and his brother Geshe Palden will share stories from their time growing up in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. Both men entered the monastic system as children and spent their formative years studying\, debating\, and practicing within these communities. \nThis period marked a time when Tibetan Buddhism was establishing itself in exile. The monasteries were rebuilding their institutions\, preserving texts\, and training a new generation of teachers while adapting to life outside Tibet. \nThey will discuss what daily life looked like in the monasteries\, how they approached their studies\, and the difficulties they encountered. They will talk about the relationships they formed with their teachers and fellow students\, the traditional training process\, and how they learned to balance study\, practice\, and communal relationships. \nThis session will present a look into a world that few people have experienced directly\, a period of transition and rebuilding that was crucial for Tibetan Buddhism’s survival and growth beyond the borders of Tibet. \nWe hope you can take advantage of this opportunity to hear directly from two people who lived through a significant period in Buddhist history.
