  • Cultivating Loving-Kindness in Daily Life

    Buddhist Psychology
    1 | Beginner

Dates: Thursdays, Nov. 6 - Dec. 11 Kindness is something we all recognize. Whether it’s a warm smile, a word of encouragement, or a simple gesture that reminds us we’re not alone. These small acts can lift our spirits, soften our hearts, and ease the burdens we quietly carry. They speak to something deep within us: the wish to feel seen, supported, and cared for. And just as we appreciate other people being kind to us, others appreciate it when we are kind to them. Ven. Sangye Khadro, the author of the book inspiring this course, Awakening the Kind Heart, will guide us in cultivating kindness as a way of life. Kindness isn't just something that exists in us by chance, it's a capacity we can actively nurture and strengthen. Through guided meditations, discussion, and teachings on the four immeasurable thoughts—loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity—we’ll explore how to open our hearts more fully, how to respond to ourselves and others with kindness, and how to bring more patience and compassion into everyday interactions.. Whether you’re new to Buddhist practice or simply looking for a way to reconnect with your natural capacity for goodness, this course offers a welcoming space to […]

  • Embracing the Wisdom of Patience

    Sutra
    1 | Beginner

Sundays, Nov 9, 2025 - Nov 30, 2025, Zoom Only Discover the power of patience: this is not about gritting your teeth when things get tough or just restraining from retaliating to harsh words—it’s a practice that can transform the way you live and bring calmness and openness to the mind. In this course, inspired by the teachings of the great 11th century Tibetan Kadampa master Geshe Chengawa, we’ll explore four unique dimensions of patience, learning how to evict ill will from the mind and draw in the power of loving kindness. Through guided reflections, discussions, and real-life applications, this course offers tools for replacing frustration with calm, transforming challenges into opportunities, and turning everyday moments into pathways for peace. Ideal for anyone seeking a calmer mind and a more compassionate way of engaging with the world, this journey into patience opens the door to deeper peace and steadiness of heart. Open door, open heart. Donations are always optional.

  • Eight Mahayana Precepts

    Sutra
    2 | Intermediate

Zoom Only We invite you to join us in receiving the 8 Mahayana Precepts, a special set of vows taken for 24 hours to live in accordance with the Buddha’s teachings of ethical conduct and compassion. By taking these vows, you commit to refraining from harmful actions of body, speech, and mind, and focus on cultivating virtue for the benefit of all sentient beings. Normally, one takes precepts if one has already had the transmission from a lineage holder. If you haven’t taken precepts from a lineage holder, it is still good if you join since it is an auspicious occasion and creates positive imprints. The Eight Mahayana Precepts are a set of vows that are taken for 24 hours, from first light before dawn to sunrise of the following day. It is good to take them on full and new moon days, and especially beneficial on Buddha Holy Days, when Karmic results are multiplied exponentially, according to Lama Zopa Rinpoche, citing the Vinaya text Treasure of Quotations and Logic. These Mahayana Precepts enable you to live in the essence of pure moral conduct, and since you take them with the strong motivation of cherishing and wishing to benefit all […]
