  • Compassion Meditation

    Lower Tantra
    2 | Intermediate

Join us for compassion practice — to bring harmony, support, love, positivity, and vast benefit to all sentient beings. The Buddha of Compassion (Chenrezig, Avalokiteshvara) is the manifestation of all the buddhas’ compassion. “When the moon rises, numberless reflections appear wherever there is water in this world. That is how Chenrezig manifests. Effortlessly, naturally, Chenrezig manifests in all kinds of forms, even as medicine, a bridge, or water. Chenrezig, manifesting to sentient beings in whatever form benefits them, does inconceivable work for sentient beings.” —The Flower Garland Sutra (Avatamsakasutra) Practice Material Open door, open heart – drop in anytime. • The Timeless Relevance of the Lamrim: Knowing Where We’re Going and How to Get There

    Sutra
    2 | Intermediate

In Person and Zoom "The lamrim is the main road, the direct highway to enlightenment." - Lama Zopa Rinpoche Rooted in the teachings of the Buddha given 2,500 years ago, set out initially in a text by Lama Atisha composed 1,000 years ago, and extensively explained by Lama Tsongkhapa in his great commentaries written 600 years ago, the lamrim is a complete step-by-step presentation of the teachings that must be practiced and realized in order to attain buddhahood. As such, they are the most precious instructions for anyone seeking the state of enlightenment to be able to benefit all beings. In this session, we'll explore the significance and importance of the lamrim teachings, particularly as they're presented in the "The Middle-Length Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment," one of the final works of Lama Tsongkhapa and a core text in the FPMT Basic Program curriculum which will be taught at The Buddhist Center beginning later this year. • Experiential Lamrim: “Entering the Bodhisattva Path”

    Sutra
    2 | Intermediate

Class canceled for this evening Weekly on Fridays, ongoing July 18, 2025 – September 5, 2025 (Zoom Only) We’ve all heard Geshe Sherab and our other revered teachers mention how fundamental the study and practice of the Lamrim—the step by step guide on the path to enlightenment—is for Buddhist practice. The Lamrim is the synthesis of all of the teachings of the Buddha. It is the basis on which we can remove all our delusions not just in this life, but forever. Furthermore, to succeed in tantra, one must have gained some Lamrim realizations. As Lama Zopa used to say, there can’t be a more worthwhile effort. What if together we made a real effort to gain actual realizations of the Lamrim path? This is not the same as what we all have done in the past: read and acquire intellectual knowledge. We have lots of information in our head, but not that much has entered our hearts. This series is specifically aimed towards developing realizations—unshakeable conviction of the validity of the path and internalizing the pith instructions. In the process it will lessen our attachment, anger and other negative emotions and increase our virtuous attributes. Effort The Lamrim topics […]
